Prof. Zhang received his Ph.D. degree from the School of Life Sciences in Tsinghua University. he was a postdoc associate in the laboratory of Prof. Chengyu Liang at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California in 2015-2016. Then he joined the laboratory of Zhen Gu at North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and UCLA in 2016-2018. Prof. Zhang joined in School of Medicine at Sun Yat-Sen University in the end of 2018 as a "Hundred Talents Program" fellow. Prof. Zhang was selected in “Shenzhen Excellent Science and Technology Innovation Talent Training Project (Excellent Youth Project) ” and “Overseas High-Caliber Personnel” in 2021.
